Authors After Dark, Rain Storms, and Vampire Panels

on August 16, 2013

MaryJanice Davidson and RAZHowdy!  It’s storming like crazy here in Savannah, which is perfect for the vampire ball tonight!  So far, this has been a wonderful conference.  The vampire and witch panels were a lot of fun, and the ‘tying up loose ends’ with Kate Douglas was hilarious.  Kate is always funny.  Here’s a picture with MaryJanice Davidson from our vampire panel.  Yeah, I had a bit of a fan girl moment there. 🙂

AKendall and Lynn few of us managed to get away from the conference hotel last night for dinner, and here’s a picture of Lynn Rush/Reese Monroe and Kendall Grey at dinner.  We were heading back for the Bookie Awards and got caught in a deluge—I ended up soaking wet and with crazy hair.  I mean, crazy, crazy, Sue from GraveTellshair.  Sue Brown from GraveTells stopped on the way (Sue’s the smart one) and bought an umbrella.  I was running too fast to snap her picture, but here’s a pic of Sue with a Caribbean Marg.  Looks good, right?

Hey – guess what?  TWISTED won a bookie award for best novella/short story.  I gave a quick thank you speech and have no clue what I said.  I wasn’t expecting to win and Twisted Bookie Awardhadn’t prepared…plus I was a little nervous being in front of all those people at a podium.  It’s a lot easier to be on a panel.

AAD-day 1Other than that, I’ve hung out with the magnificent Justine from Kensington, and we truly enjoyed the grilled cheese sandwich from Blue, here in the hotel.  Also, here’s a quick picture of opening day…see what was on the table.  🙂

My Butt is Dangerous

on August 14, 2013

vampire_lrgI have to say, Savannah is a beautiful city.  The part we’re in is very old south with the architecture and squares.  The journey here was fairly uneventful except…the TSA scanner at the airport flagged my ass as a possibly dangerous weapon.  Yeah.  Who knew.  So the TSA agent had to feel my butt (and to her credit, she was very nice and offered me a private room), but I told her to go for it.  Plus, there was a group of male twenty-somethings watching her pat my butt with great interest, so I figured, what the heck.  Did you know that if they have to check an intimate part of your body, they also have to check your hands for explosives?  They do.  I haven’t figured out the correlation, but oh well.

Savannah view.jpgThe drive through Savannah to the Marriott was lovely, and I’m excited to explore the city if we get a chance.  My suite is very nice, and here’s the view from the floor to ceiling windows.  It’s very peaceful, and I’m hoping to get some writing done.  I have to get some writing done, actually.

I’ve had meetings today, and the festivities kick off tonight.  Here’s a quick rundown of where I’ll be for sure, just in case you’re at the AAD convention in Atlanta.  (If you are, find me and ask for a Dark Protector ribbon for your badge).  I’ll be attending other panels and get togethers other than the ones listed below, but these are for sure.  Drop by! 🙂

Updates, Lawn Decorations, and Savannah

on August 5, 2013

RAZ at the lakeI get a notice every time somebody new subscribes to the blog here, and there have been so many new subscribers that I thought maybe I should write a blog.  🙂  Well, if you follow me on FaceBook,  you know I’ve been writing at the lake a lot lately.  There isn’t any internet out there, so it’s pretty great to write.  My husband took the picture of me from inside the cabin, and I had no clue.

The bathtub is still in my backyard, and the parking meter is still in the front.  On all that is holy and pure, I don’t know why.  We live in a very nice neighborhood with normal neighbors.  I very much fear we’re ‘those people.’  Yes, I plan to move both the bathtub and the meter, but they’re heavy.  I’ll figure it out soon.

Atlanta at nightI had an absolute ball in Atlanta at the RWA Conference, and the workshop I did with Cynthia Eden was a lot of fun.  She’s a fountain of information about serial killers, and she’s an amazing writer.  Kristin Higgins was one of the keynote speakers, and she made us both laugh and cry.  I read her book on the plane ride home and laughed out loud.  People probably looked, but I didn’t care.  🙂  My room was on the 39th floor, and this is a picture at night of downtown Atlanta.  Pretty, right?

I’m heading to Savannah for the Authors After Dark Convention on August 14th.  If you’re anywhere near Savannah, drop by.  It looks like a lot of fun!  I’ll post some updates as the week goes along.

Finally, here are the updates for the series:

Shadowed (eBook)Dark ProtectorsTWISTED was released in June and features wolf shifters Terrent and Maggie.  SHADOWED, Jase’s novel, will release in both ebook and print on October 3rd.  The ebook is up for preorder now.  TWISTED, TEMPTED, and TAMED (the three Dark Protector novellas) will be available in print next May, when TAMED comes out.  We’re combining the three into one print book.  YAY!

Forgotten sins _6-72Sin Brothers:  FORGOTTEN SINS released July 2nd and is going strong.  Unfortunately, it hasn’t been available in the UK or overseas at all, and my editor is working on rectifying that.  Hopefully this month I’ll have some good news.  It’s driving me crazy, to be honest.  The print book will be available in January at all bookstores and online.  Book 2 (Matt’s book) is all finished and will be released this coming December.  I should have a name and cover soon…

Under the CoversMaverick Montana:  The first two books are out and are doing well.  Book three, RISING ASSETS, is tentatively slated for a November release.  I’ll know more soon.  There doesn’t seem to be a plan for print with this series so far, but I’ll keep asking for it.  🙂

That’s what’s going on in my neck of the woods.  I’m hoping to have a character interview or two up soon…keep tuned in and have a wonderful rest of the week!

Also, if you look above at the tabs, we’ve added one for merchandise since people kept asking where to get T-shirts, etc. with our logos.  So…there it is.  🙂

I’ve Arrived in Atlanta–and Updates

on July 15, 2013

Hi all!

FATEDFirst, I wanted to let you know that FATED is on sale for $1.99 right now on online stores.  (That’s $12.00 off).  The print is on sale for $5.60.  I have no clue how long the sale will last.  Maybe spread the word if you get the chance, will you?

And…I made it safely to Atlanta.  We had a veerrrry long layover in Minneapolis since our plane “was broken,” and they had to fly in a new plane for us.  So, I ended up arriving at the Atlanta Marriott Marquis at 2:00am.  Atlanta at night.jpgYikes!  I’m a bit tired.  But look at the very cool picture I took last night from my hotel room.  Pretty, right?

The conference kicks off soon, and I’ll be signing books at the RWA Literacy signing RAZ-Booksigningon Wednesday, which is open to the public.  It’s here at the hotel, and I believe it begins at 5:30-7:30.  If you’re anywhere in the vicinity, drop by and say hi.

I’m also participating in both Kensington and Grand Central’s publisher signings during the conference.  You have to be attending the conference to go to these.  But if you’re here, drop by.

Also, the fabulous Cynthia Eden and I are giving a workshop on Saturday at 3:15 about:  The Serial Killer Next Door.  It’s how to write realistic and multi-dimensional villains.  We’re expecting to have tons of fun, so if you’re attending the conference, please pop in toForgotten sins _6-72 see us.

So, in addition to tons of meetings, a couple of cocktail parties, and a few workshops I can’t wait to see…that’s my week.  Well, and writing.  I have a couple of deadlines coming up.

Have a wonderful week…and I hope to have time to update throughout.  Also, thank you for the wonderful feedback and reviews on FORGOTTEN SINS.  There’s a great buzz going on right now from that, and I know many of you have helped to make that happen.  You’re the best!  🙂
