Shopping on Percocet…a Bad Idea?

Those of you familiar with my blog know I like to spend some time making fun of myself…and those around me.  I’ve been out of commission for a while after having surgery, and the doctor gave me these wonderful pain pills called Percocet.  The good news is that they take the pain away…the bad news is that I decided to do some internet shopping the other day.  Here’s what I felt I had to buy:

umbrellaI like to walk every day, and I never have an umbrella that works.  The colors of this one just entranced me, so I ordered it.  But…it’s summer now, and we’re heading into record hot weather next week.  So a rain umbrella?  Um, no.  But isn’t it pretty?

polishSo, apparently I continued on, searching for those things I really needed, and came across this wonderful collection of nail polishes.  I like being pampered and often get a mani/pedi, thus I don’t really own many nail polish bottles.  But, these called to me for some reason–and I just had to buy them in my lala land of a state.  I particularly am curious about the yellow.

fountainKeeping with the draw of bright colors, I purchased a water fountain for my office.  I’ve always wanted a water fountain but never quite got around to buying one.  This one drew me in with the bright blue colorful lights, and it should arrive any day.  Who knew that working on the laptop would bring such delights to my door?

belleekThen, because I must’ve needed a pretty cup and saucer, I found this dainty pair of Belleek beauties.  I love Belleek and do often collect the different patterns, so this made some sense.  Of course, I have never bought a new set from Amazon and had no clue Amazon sold Belleek.  Discovery!

socksKeeping with the theme of it about to be hotter than hot where I live, I then purchased this unique set of fuzzy socks to wear during the heat wave.  I mean, doesn’t everybody need fuzzy, striped socks during the 100 degree weather?  What if your feet get cold?

emery boardsSince I now have so many bottles of nail polish, I needed a bunch of emery boards–right?   I mean, it doesn’t make sense to just buy the polish.  So…look what I found!

umbrella 2Then, to round out my shopping, I bought a bunch of Celtic jewelry, some books, an X-box, some dresses, placeware, makeup, lipstick, lotions, and some boots.  And…just to make sure I’m ready if it rains again…another umbrella.  Note to self…hide the laptop when on pain meds.  🙂

Forgotten sins _6-72Just a quick reminder here – FORGOTTEN SINS releases on Tuesday!  What a great summer/long weekend read!  🙂

I try to put the computer far away when I am on pain meds because I tend to say things I probably shouldn’t I think my husband would prefer the shopping :O)

  2. SnarkyMom says:

Oh geez – I wish you hadn’t told me that Amazon sold Belleek! ACK!! Out of all of the items, I’m thinking the water fountain was the worst choice. I mean, REALLY – do you think you’re going to be able to hold out from running to the bathroom every 30 minutes if you have the sound of running water in your work space??!!!????

  3. Bahahaha!!! So sorry Rebecca, but I am laughing “with” you not “at” you!! (I promise!) I have Crohn’s disease, which means I know All about internet shopping and pain pills!! Just ask my hubby who has to contend with me buying hundreds of books on Amazon, and TONS of the coffee pods for my Keurig coffee maker!! I can so relate to your dilemma..and I have to say..I am glad I’m not alone!! 😉

OMG!! Rebecca, you are a dangerous woman on meds!!! LOL, I got a real kick out of all your logic as to ‘why’ you just had to have each of those items! And I can’t wait for Forgotten Sins!!!

I think American Express would be calling my house to see if our card had been stolen. 🙂 Enjoy your newly acquired goods.

  10. How fun! And I would totally shop on percocet – did, as a matter of fact, but didn’t buy anything near as fun as you did. Hope you’re feeling better!

Your husband is likely to take internet modem with him to keep this from happening again when you are on pain meds. I guess I am lucky that pain meds make me so fuzzy headed that I can’t think straight, so I can’t do any internet shopping while on them (plus, I hate taking pain meds, even though I live with constant pain). I do love the colors of your nail polish though, bright and cheerful! That waterfall would make me have to pee every 15 minutes (I drink up to a gallon of water a day or more so I have to pee a lot anyway, LOL)

What a hoot! Remember next time though, to hide the credit cards, laptop etc before taking the pain meds **LOL**!!!! Of course on my budget, I’d be saying (UHHHH can I return this?). Sounds like you had a fun time though!! I can’t wait to read Forgotten Sins!!

I totally love all the “useful” things that you bought!! If I shopped on pain meds I’d probably buy a lot of the same stuff! I would probably buy a lot of eye shadows instead of nail polish,,

  16. Cathryn Cade says:

    Rebecca,

We need to have coffee SOON before the Percocet wears off. You sound like a fun date, lol!

    Hope you’re feeling better. Cathryn

  17. I’m not on very strong, mind altering pain killers but I do love to internet shop for needless items.
I like the umbrellas. I’ll probably, scratch that will buy one tonight because . . .well they are useful.

  18. D says:

I know someone who did the same thing – purchased many things online on pain meds and had to return a lot of it! Thanks for sharing. You are so funny!

  19. Avonelle Shannon says:

First, wish you a speedy recovery with your surgery – Second, you are not alone in finding out NO SHOPPING WHILE ON MEDS, this happened to me also, but it sure was fun. Glad you also enjoyed!

  20. Rebecca Delio says:

I am looking for an umbrella for my granddaughter, her mom wants me to get her one for her birthday. Also I use to take the pills you mentioned until after one of my surgeries they gave me one and it made me sick, these things happen. I already purchased your book on pre-order, love your books, thanks for the hours of great reading.

  21. Rachael Walker says:

    Dear Ms. Zanetti,

I’m wishing you a smooth and speedy recovery after the surgery.  Thank you for keeping in touch with your readers during this time.  You’re funny about the internet shopping–at least you didn’t purchase very large items (stay off the Neiman Marcus website!).

I’m excited to read Forgotten Sins as well!

Best regards, Rachael Walker Greatly Admiring Fan

I am sorry I did not realize y our surgery was recent, I hope you are now fully recovered. I have had so many surgeries in my 70 years that I sometimes do not understand when someone mentions surgery, I figure they have had the surgery and are on the way to best health or already recovered. Good Luck and I hope you are recovered.

I’m surprised you didn’t buy sandals to show off your pretty toes after they were painted in all the rainbow’s colors. 🙂

Hope you are back to 100% soon and won’t need the pain meds.
