Blog hops, cowboys, and golf courses…oh my! Bloghops

UPDATE:  CONGRATS to Mel Joe Laney for winning the cup and notebook.  Thanks to all who entered!

Hello all!  Welcome to the blog hop!  You know, I had a fun one with this because in my newest release, the hero fights the heroine about a golf-course design in order to preserve land.  So, I thought a quick excerpt from AGAINST THE WALL would be a good way to celebrate this earth friendly blog hop!  (BTW, there’s a giveaway at the bottom.  WHOO HOO!)

AtW 300px for websitesThis wasn’t happening. Sophie shut her mouth on a scream as the powerful animal gracefully leaped over a fallen log and her captor pulled her into his solid body. He moved as one with the animal. Her hands fisted the silky mane like it was a lifeline to reality.

Maybe it was.

Screw this. She threw back an elbow and twisted to the side, fear and anger finally galvanizing her into action.

“Stop.” A deep voice issued the command as warm breath brushed her cheekbone.

With a mere tightening of his thighs on the great animal, they skidded to a stop. The arm trapping her shifted so she slid easily to the ground and stayed around her waist until she regained her footing. With a sound that was more growl than gasp, she backed away from man and mount until she collapsed against the bark of a towering tree. The horse tossed his head and snorted at her retreat.

The man sat straight and tall on the animal, dark and curious eyes considering her.

The smell of wet moss surrounded her. She gulped in air and studied him. He was huge—and packed hard. Scuffed cowboy boots pressed down on the stirrups while a dark T-shirt outlined impressive muscles. Long lashes framed incredible eyes, and she could swear a dark eyebrow lifted in amusement.

Two more horses charged suddenly through the meadow, sliding to a swift stop behind her captor. One animal was a pretty white, the other a spotted paint, and both held powerful cowboys complete with boots, jeans, and Stetsons. All wore black hats—like the villains in every Western movie ever filmed.

“Unbelievable,” she muttered under her breath.

At her voice, her captor jumped gracefully off his mount and stepped toward her.

“What should we do with her?” the man on the white horse asked. His gravelly voice contrasted oddly with the glint of humor in his tawny eyes. Filtered sunlight illuminated the gold, brown, and even black hair flowing unchecked around his shoulders. He was a symphony of twilight, where the other men wore the ominous tone of midnight.

“I caught her. I get to keep her,” her captor said, his eyes intent as he took another step toward her, firm muscles bunching in his upper arms.

“Another step, and you get to land on your ass.” Sophie readied herself to target his knees as fear uncoiled in her stomach. He stood at least a foot taller than her own five foot four.

His grin was quick and unexpected.

ATW Mug and NBSo, in addition to the overall bloghop prizes, I’d love to give away an AGAINST THE WALL coffee mug and spiral notebook to one commenter on my blog here.  I’ll draw a name when the blog ends.  So…do you think opposites attract?

I love reading books about when opposites attract. I think characters who are opposites compliment each other better! Thanks for the giveaway!!

  5. Loved the blurb and can’t wait to read it ! opposites definitely attract, I think in a relationship they have to be opposites in some ways because it makes them compatible in other ways.If they are too much alike there’s not a lot to sustain a relationship and would eventually fall apart.

  6. Patricia Elliott says:

I am a total paranormal romance junkie and I absolutely love the Dark Protectors but I am afraid I am going to have tobreak down and read this one. Nice blurb….

  7. Leslie Miner says:

This has been on my TBR! The list is long, but I hope to get to it soon. Yes, I believe opposites attract. I think it’s a good thing. When two people are too much alike, I think it can cause a power struggle.

That is a hot excerpt. Cowboys for my bday. What a way to celebrate. Seriously, I am getting books all day long. My treat to myself. Instant attraction between opposite? Yes and no. If they are serious about each others, they can make it work. Otherwise, lets have fun while it last.

  12. Mary Preston says:

I do believe that opposites can attract, but whether it sticks is something else again.

  14. Beckey says:

Oh, I do believe that they do (my husband and I are opposites and have been together for the last 11 years)

  15. Mary says:

Yes, opposite can and do attract. The foundation of a strong relationship is the same morals and values. This doesn’t mean always agreeing with your partner. Believe in your beliefs and stand your ground. Your book was very good with strong character development which kept the reader involved. The story moved along with no drags (wishing someone would shutup and get the action going). Another area was the peek of interest of outside characters to encourage readers for other books. GREAT JOB…5 STARS. Kudos.

Of course opposites attract! As long as there’s a mutual respect and understanding,it makes thing more intersting. There doesn’t have to be an agreement with every single thing for people to have things in common and be together. Where would the fun be in that!

  29. tanna4abak says:

Got this one already on my wishlist. I would love to win the notebook and mug, but I would really want to win the book LOL (hint, hint, hint) 😉 😉

Opposites definitely attract!! Part of that attraction is it keeps things very interesting not knowing what will be coming next…That is part of why I love Against the Wall!!! Jake and Sophie were opposites, and it worked to keep everything exciting…but, underneath, they also had things in common. Thanks Rebecca!

  36. Yes. Opposites do attract.

  37. Thanks for the peek into the story. I’ve already added it to my list of “to read”. Opposites always attract to a point, it’s finding out if they can balance one another that’s fun.

  38. OOOOwheee…. Against the Wall is freakin hot! Hopefully, I’ll win a copy. 🙂 In any case on my TBR list it goes.

Yes opposite do attract but it doesn’t always mean a hea relationship. It depends entirely on the people involved. It could be an “in lust” attraction that doesn’t progress to love and burns out.

    Thanks for the opportunity.

Yes, I do! I think the yin and yang of a couple keep them connected. The give and take makes them more united and able to cope with any hardship as the other is always there to pick up the weaker.

  47. Shelly Hammond says:

Thank you so much for the chance to enter the giveaway. Oh do I ever believe opposites attract! I think that a lot of times the opposites are what immediately attract people in many ways, though often you do have a lot in common with the people you wind up with (even if you don’t realize it at first). My husband is from Scotland, he moved here about 8 years ago so we could get married, and we are so very different (he’s weirder than me :P) but at the same time we have a lot in common. So, I think that opposites do indeed attract, and later they see that they do actually have things in common as well (if they last that is) 😀 Opposites attract stories are great though!! In stories and writing, anything can happen! That’s why I love reading so much 😀

Thank you again for the chance to enter 🙂 Happy Earth Day tomorrow.
