Kissing on the Sly

Guest Blogger-Robin Bielman

Hi all! I’m Charly, Rebecca’s assistant. We thought it’d be fun to do a ‘Romance: The Good, the Bad, and the Disastrous’ theme with guest bloggers throughout the summer months. Every Monday and Thursday, we’ll have a guest blogger talk about fun stuff like horrible dates, good dates, etc. Some bloggers will have a contest, and some won’t – it’s totally up to them. If there is a contest, I’ll randomly draw a winner from the post comments, send the winner’s email address to the guest blogger, and they’ll take it from there. Rebecca will jump in and blog when she can. For now, enjoy as we play!

Robin2-287x300Hi everyone! *waves* I’m so happy to be here! Thank you to Rebecca and Charly for having me, and happy Friday!

I thought I’d jump right into one of my favorite things: kissing. Whether I’m reading about a hero and heroine’s first kiss, whether it’s my dog Harry touching his little nose to mine, whether I’m snagging a reluctant kiss on the cheek from my teenage son, or whether I’m cuddled up with my hubby and making out, kissing is always good. And fun!

When my DH and I were teenagers (I married my high school sweetheart) I was really shy about kissing him in public or in front of our parents so we’d sneak kisses in whenever other people were around. Now, over twenty-five years later, forget kissing on the sly, I’ll happily smack lips with him anywhere. (Hope that wasn’t TMI.) So, today I present to you the ten best places worth the risk of getting caught kissing…

  1. At the movies ~ this is kind of a no-brainer.
  2. During a surf lesson ~ I swear I almost drowned and my hubby brought me back to life. Kidding. Sort of.
  3. During dinner at a fancy restaurant ~ Tablecloth, candles, yummy drinks, it’s one of those perfect romantic spots.
  4. On the beach ~ Sandy toes and salty kisses, yes?
  5. On a hike ~ My hubby and I love to hike and when you reach the top of a climb a kiss is definitely in order.
  6. On a Ferris wheel ~ anywhere on the loop works for me. 😉
  7. At the library ~ My hubby and I spent many hours together in the library during college and let’s just say not all that time was spent studying.
  8. In a car ~ No further explanation needed.
  9. In a hammock ~ There’s not a lot of room, so this leads to lots of uh, body contact while kissing.
  10. In front of a fireplace ~ One of my favorite memories is of my hubby and I going to Big Bear for a weekend away in December and snuggling by the fire while snow fell outside.

When not attached to her laptop, USA Today Bestselling Author and RITA Finalist, Robin Bielman loves to read, take hikes with her hubby, and frequent coffee shops. A California girl, the beach is her favorite place for fun, relaxation, and inspiration. She loves to go on adventures, and has skydived, scuba dived, parasailed, gotten lost in the wilderness (and only suffered a gazillion bug bites for it) hiked to amazing waterfalls, and swam with dolphins. In her spare time she also tries to put her treadmill to good use while watching her favorite TV shows, indulges her sweet tooth, and plays a mean game of sock tug of war with her cute, but sometimes naughty dog, Harry.

Writing is a dream come true, and she still pinches herself to be sure it’s real. She lives in Southern California with her high school sweetheart husband and younger of two sons. Her oldest is out in the real word and she couldn’t be prouder. She loves to connect with readers. Get the scoop on Robin, her books, and sign up for her newsletter on her website at

Worth the Risk

Their love was ancient history…until their paths crossed again.

Samantha Bennett put Dean Malloy out of her mind five years ago, when he broke her heart after a summer fling. But now he’s back in her life, and ready to steal a heritage protection contract that could make or break her career–if he doesn’t steal her heart first. Samantha’s vowed to hate him, but it’s more than anger heating the competition between them.

With sparks flying across the conference table and sizzling in every touch, Dean proposes a weekend liaison. Anything to have Sam again–anything to get her out of his system. But the unresolved feelings between them complicate their personal and professional lives, and one wild weekend could turn into a disaster that would destroy the one job that means more to Samantha than anything.

Risky Surrender

She’ll search for treasure but steal his heart.

Lucy Davenport made a promise to her father and husband right before they died, and she’s vowed to keep it any cost. But when she draws unwanted attention to her secret plans, she’s forced to risk everything she’s kept guarded. Because the man standing in her way threatens not only her goal but the walls she’s carefully constructed around her heart.

Keats McCall is an environmental preservationist navigating the globe on behalf of heritage protection. When he catches Lucy at his latest project, he suspects she’s up to no good. She’s secretive, sexy as hell–and has trouble written all over her. He devises a plan to keep her close so he can watch her. But what he isn’t prepared for is just how close he wants to get.

His Million-Dollar Risk

Determined to make his latest preservation project on Route 66 a success, Connor Gibson will take any good press he can get–even if it means spending a week with a reporter. And even if it’s one from a publication he has good reason to hate. Connor certainly isn’t expecting a spontaneous and undeniably attractive blonde who makes him seriously hot for the press…

Charlize Beckett is in deeeep trouble. This is her one chance to prove to her publisher dad that she’s a serious journalist, even if she has to pretend she’s someone else. Worse, is trying to maintain any objectivity with the way too charming Connor. She can’t help but get into all kinds of sexy trouble with him. But by going off the record, Charlie is putting both her reputation and her heart on the line…

One Night of Risk

It’s good girl Malia Davis’s turn to be bad. Very bad. Malia has returned to Kauai to retrieve a piece of crystal her sick mother believes has healing properties. Malia thinks her only problem is accessing the “closed to the public” temple where the crystal is buried. She’s wrong. She has an even bigger problem—the guy who broke her heart ten years ago. The guy she hates…and still wants oh-so-badly.

A former Navy SEAL, security expert Clay Doherty is investigating the thefts at the temple. Malia’s presence and the undeniable chemistry between them complicate matters. Certain that Malia is up to something, Clay will do whatever it takes to protect her…even if it means losing her for good.

My most memorable kiss was at a bus stop/shelter. It was my second kiss from the Mister & SO much better than the first. The rain was coming down & he held me tight because it was cold. It was swoon worthy.

    1. Hi Mary! Oh, kisses in the rain are sooo romantic!

I would have to say my first kiss! It was at the movies and I wasn’t expecting it. I remember thinking , “so this it what a kiss feels like”!
I wonder if Robin’s teenage son minds all the public display of affection!!

    1. Hi Kelly! That is so sweet. And I love that it was a good kiss. My first kiss was so not. lol

I love that you mentioned my sons. Over the years, my hubby and I have gotten plenty of eye rolls, but I think we’ve also instilled in them how it’s okay to show affection. And I’m happy to say, neither one of them has been shy about kissing their girlfriends in front of us. My younger son, more so for sure. I loved that he and his girlfriend held hands, kissed, joked, very comfortably, in front of us. Unfortunately, they recently broke up. I loved her! But they’re friends. And I think that says something, too.

      Thanks for commenting!

On my couch with my now husband

    1. Hi Rose! Couches are super good. 😀

  4. Hi Robin!

Hey, I get to *see* you today. 😉 I’m so thrilled, I could kiss you! I think my favorite place to kiss my hubs is on vacation. Beach, mountains, city…I’m not picky. Just take me awaaaaaay!!!

    1. Hi Samanthe! You are so nice to stop by! I could kiss you back. 😉

Vacations are great for kisses, aren’t they? When we can leave everything behind, it frees our mind for more romance, I think. And if the kids are safe and sound back home, then all the better.

  5. Hayson Manning says:

My favorite author! Love your books. Hmmm, one kiss stands out…Behind a suit of armor, at a museum. It was magic. I’m not saying who with 🙂

    1. Hayson! Hi! You’re one of my favorite people too! Oh, I’m gonna details on this kiss the next time I see you. 😉

  6. Rebecca James says:

My first kiss is probably my most memorable, and not for good reasons! It makes me gag a little just thinking about it!! It was on a couch, no where fancy. I just wanted it to be over, but I didn’t want to hurt the boy’s feelings. I remember wondering what all the fuss was about! 😀

  7. Charly says:

UPDATE: The giveaway winner is Hayson Manning. Congrats! Your info has been sent to Robin.

  8. Linda Levine says:

My first serious kiss in the stairwell of my apartment building hoping no one would discover us there.
