The Publishing Industry is like the real estate market…

Okay – the writing loops abound right now with dismal stories of publishers going belly up, big book stores being sold and certain large NY publishers changing from print to ebook platforms.  Scary times.  The economy still sucks.  But I really think that publishing is like the real estate market…the best at the job do even better in hard times than in easy ones.

Good writing will rise to the top.  Good publishers will not only hang tough but expand.  They’ll buy excellent stories and new voices…and people will read them.  After buying them.

It’s all about the story.  The best writers are people who would keep writing even if nobody ever read the story.  Because the story has to come out – it has to be told.

It is impossible to discourage the real writers – they don’t give a damn what you say, they’re going to write.  ~Sinclair Lewis

Love this post! It’s so positive and it’s true!

You’re right about the writers who write regardless just because the story must be told. AND that good publishers will hold tight.

Things are just so crazy right now in many arenas, not just publishing and writing.

We all just have to hang on and hold tight. And most importantly, we must write on!!!
